What is Ginkgo biloba?
This plant is a member of an old genus, with some fossils dating back 270 million years. Ginkgo's uses range widely, but commonly its thought to aid in brain function, in general, and blood circulation. Gingko is known to increase blood by encouraging the dilation of blood vessels. By increasing blood flow, your body could circulate healthy blood faster into damaged areas, allowing for accelerated healing. On top of all this, Gingko may help prevent strokes. Much of this claim comes from its anti-inflammatory properties. Meaning, wherever in your body there is swelling, tension, or excess stress, Ginkgo is known to go in and relax those agitated areas. This may reduce pain and increase one’s immunity due to the decrease of harmful stress hormones such as cortisol. Once inflammation has decreased the body could begin to heal itself properly without being stifled by tension and a compromised immunity.
